Segurma alarms in Castellón
An alarm for your flat, your villa in the Marjaleria or your apartment on the coast.
Castellón at a glance
A flat in Rafalafena or the Grau that stands empty from eight to five, a villa in the Marjaleria, Benicàssim or La Coma de Borriol, an apartment in Orpesa, Marina d'Or, Peñíscola, Alcossebre or Moncofa owned by a family from Madrid, Zaragoza or Valencia and shut from October to June, a masía in Els Ports or the Maestrat: in Castellón the Segurma alarm is set up differently in each case, and its Alarm Receiving Centre alerts the National Police or the Guardia Civil depending on the municipality. Here we explain it comarca by comarca.

What happens in Castellón when your alarm goes off
In the province of Castellón, public safety is handled by the National Police in the cities with a police station (Castellón de la Plana, Vila-real, Burriana, la Vall d'Uixó and Vinaròs) and by the Guardia Civil everywhere else: Benicàssim, Orpesa, Almassora, Onda, Nules, Benicarló, Peñíscola, Alcalà de Xivert, Torreblanca, Moncofa, l'Alcora, Borriol, Segorbe, Morella and all the villages. Segurma's Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) has on record, for every home, which of the two forces is responsible; in the capital and the towns of the Plana the local police also receive alerts and patrol.
The sequence is always the same. A camera detector picks up movement in the living room while the system is armed, or a magnetic sensor notices the terrace sliding door opening. The alarm panel sends the ARC the signal, a few images of that moment and the audio from the room. An operator reviews them. If it is your brother-in-law who has popped in for the bike, nothing happens; if there is someone who should not be there, the alarm is confirmed as real and the ARC alerts the National Police or the Guardia Civil with those images. You get the notification in the app at that moment, whether you are in Castellón, Madrid or Zaragoza, and can watch the cameras live.
The alert is made by Segurma, an authorised security company registered in the National Private Security Register under number 3082. It is an alert verified with images: for the Guardia Civil post in Orpesa in January, with Marina d'Or and thousands of apartments shut up, or for the one in Morella in Els Ports, that is the difference between a suspicion and a fact.
The Marjaleria, buildings empty in winter and masías without fibre
The Marjaleria in Castellón has hundreds of villas that spend weeks on their own, the coast has whole buildings where nobody lives in winter, and many masías (country farmhouses) in Els Ports, the Maestrat and the Alto Palancia have no fibre. The alarm panel has its own battery and communicates over your home line and over 4G/5G: if one route fails, the other keeps the link to the ARC.
Where Segurma installs in Castellón province
Across the whole province, from Vinaròs to Almenara and from the coast to Morella and Montanejos. These are the comarcas (districts) and the type of home we usually find in each one.
Castellón de la Plana
Flats in the Centro, Rafalafena, Sensal, the Gran Vía, Sant Llorenç, the Raval Universitari, Avenida Lledó, the Grau and the Ronda area, with plenty of ground-floor and first-floor flats onto the street; and hundreds of villas and houses with a plot in the Marjaleria (Camí Caminàs, Serradal, Entrilles, Ratllat), many of them weekend homes. In a flat you protect the front door, the reachable windows and the hallway; in a villa on the marjal (the marshland), the perimeter.
Plana Alta: Almassora, Benicàssim, Orpesa (Marina d'Or), Torreblanca, Cabanes, Borriol (La Coma), Vall d'Alba and Benlloch
Flats in Almassora, villas in Las Villas de Benicàssim and La Coma de Borriol, seasonal apartments in Benicàssim, Orpesa and Torrenostra, and masías inland. Outside the capital the Guardia Civil is alerted.
Plana Baixa: Vila-real, Burriana, la Vall d'Uixó, Nules, Onda, Betxí, Moncofa, Xilxes, Almenara, La Llosa and Alqueries
Flats in Vila-real, Burriana and la Vall (National Police stations), village houses, villas on the urbanisations of Onda and Betxí and beach apartments in Moncofa, Xilxes and Almenara. Nules, Onda and the coast are covered by the Guardia Civil.
Baix Maestrat: Vinaròs, Benicarló, Peñíscola, Alcalà de Xivert (Alcossebre), Sant Mateu, Traiguera, Càlig and Santa Magdalena
Flats in Vinaròs (National Police) and Benicarló, holiday apartments and villas in Peñíscola, Alcossebre and Las Fuentes owned by people from Madrid, Zaragoza and northern Europe, and masías inland.
Alcalatén and Alto Mijares: l'Alcora, Llucena, Figueroles, Montanejos, Cirat, Arañuel and Fanzara
Flats and houses in l'Alcora, villas on the urbanisations of l'Alcora and Llucena, village houses and second homes in Montanejos and the Mijares valley.
Alto Palancia: Segorbe, Viver, Jérica, Altura, Navajas, Soneja and Castellnovo
Flats in Segorbe, village houses with a yard and a great many second homes of families from Valencia and Castellón in Navajas, Jérica, Viver and Altura.
Els Ports and Alt Maestrat: Morella, Vilafranca, Forcall, Ares, Benassal, Albocàsser, Culla and Vistabella
Stone village houses and masías, many of them second homes or rural tourism lets, with the Guardia Civil post some distance away and power cuts in winter. Verification before alerting and 4G/5G are what make the alarm work here.
Espadà and the inland Plana: Eslida, Aín, Alcudia de Veo, Artana, Vilavella, Tales and Suera
Village houses, weekend villas in the sierra and homes that open up in summer and on long weekends.
If you cannot see your municipality, it does not matter: the whole province is within the service area and in the survey we confirm the timescale by postcode.
How burglars get into homes in Castellón and what stops them
Home burglaries almost always happen when the house is empty, in minutes, through the easiest way in. In Castellón that way in changes a great deal between a flat in Rafalafena, a villa in the Marjaleria and an apartment in Orpesa.
Flat in Castellón, Vila-real, Burriana, la Vall or Vinaròs
The front door (old locks opened with a plastic card or by bumping, or forced on a landing with no neighbours about), balconies and windows of ground-floor and first-floor flats that can be reached from the street or from a shop below, and penthouse terraces with access from the roof. A magnetic sensor on the door raises the alert at the first attempt; a camera detector in the hallway captures whoever comes in; the indoor siren makes an intruder in a block of flats leave.
Villa in the Marjaleria, Benicàssim, La Coma or l'Alcora
Lanes on the marjal with no passing traffic during the week, plots with a wall and sliding doors. The intruder comes over the back wall, checks whether anyone is in and goes for the living-room sliding door or a ground-floor window. The outdoor detector picks them up on the plot; the IP camera with audio in the Kit Tranquilidad Plus lets you watch from your phone; the ARC alerts the National Police or the Guardia Civil while they are still outside.
Holiday apartment in Orpesa, Marina d'Or, Benicàssim, Peñíscola, Alcossebre or Moncofa
The terrace sliding door in ground-floor and first-floor flats, and the front door in buildings that are half empty in winter, where nobody hears a thing. Magnetic sensor on the door and on the sliding door, a camera detector in the living room and an IP camera to look in on the apartment from Madrid or Zaragoza.
Masía or village house in Els Ports, the Maestrat, the Alto Palancia or Espadà
Several ways in (front door, threshing floor, yard, hay barn), and often not a neighbour in sight. Sensors on every access, camera detectors on the route they have to take and an outdoor detector. The panel, with its battery and 4G/5G, keeps the link to the ARC even if the power goes off.
When it happens
August and the Magdalena festival in Castellón, when the city empties or fills with people from out of town; winter in the coastal apartments, shut from October to June; weekdays in the villas of the Marjaleria; and long weekends in the masías inland. With the alarm armed and connected, those days stop being different.
Anti-squatter alarm in Castellón: the Marjaleria, closed-up apartments and inherited flats
In Castellón the homes that spend months empty are above all the villas in the Marjaleria and on the urbanisations that are used at weekends, the coastal apartments of families from Madrid, Zaragoza and Valencia shut from October to June, the inherited flats in the capital, Vila-real or Burriana that have not yet been sold or let, and the masías inland. These are exactly the homes where a squat takes weeks to be discovered.
If the entry is detected while it is happening, with images of someone forcing the sliding door, the National Police or the Guardia Civil can act on an offence in progress. If you find out when you arrive at Easter, what is left is a court case. The whole point of an anti-squatter alarm is that first minute.
What the system does in an empty house
- The magnetic sensors on doors, windows and sliding doors raise the alert at the first attempt to open them, not once the intruder has already changed the lock.
- The images from the camera detector go to the ARC straight away; there they are verified and the police are alerted with them.
- The deterrent sign and the siren stop the villa or the flat from looking abandoned, which is the first thing anyone choosing a home to squat looks for.
- With the IP camera in the Kit Tranquilidad Plus you can look in on the house from your phone, whether you are in Castellón, Madrid or Zaragoza.
The legal framework, in short
Entering a home that is someone's dwelling (including a holiday home that is in use) is allanamiento de morada (breaking into a dwelling); entering a property that is not, usurpación (unlawful occupation). Since April 2025 both offences are handled through the fast-track procedure, but the practical difference remains: an intrusion detected and verified while it is happening allows action on the spot; a completed squat is settled in court. If you already have a squatting problem, speak to a lawyer; this page is no substitute for that advice.

Holiday homes on the Costa de Azahar and inland
Vinaròs, Benicarló, Peñíscola, Alcossebre, Las Fuentes, Torrenostra, Orpesa, Marina d'Or, Benicàssim, the Grau, Burriana, Nules, Moncofa, Xilxes, Almenara: the Costa de Azahar is the beach for Madrid, Zaragoza, Teruel and half of Valencia, with homes that open in July and close in September, in buildings and on urbanisations where hardly anyone lives in January. Add to that the houses in Navajas, Jérica, Montanejos, Morella or Vilafranca that are used in summer and on long weekends.
What a house like that needs is not a siren, which nobody hears in Marina d'Or in February, but someone to check what is going on and alert the Guardia Civil or the National Police, plus the ability to look in on the house from your phone. The Kit Tranquilidad covers the first; the Kit Tranquilidad Plus adds the IP camera with audio for the second. In villas with a garden, the sensors on the sliding doors and the outdoor detector raise the alert before they touch the house.
The system is wireless and needs no building work, so there is no need to ask the community of owners for permission or to touch a masía. It communicates over 4G/5G as well as over the home line, so you do not need to take out a fibre contract for the holiday home.
Everything that changes when the house sits empty for months: alarm for holiday homes.

Shop or business in Castellón
For a shop, a pharmacy, a bar, an office or a warehouse on the ceramics industrial estate the set-up is different (IP camera with audio, panic button, arming schedules) and VAT is not included in the monthly fee. It is all explained on alarms for businesses.
Typical situations in Castellón
Three cases that come up often in survey calls from the province, explained without specific details so you can recognise yours.
The villa in the Marjaleria used at weekends
A lane with no passing traffic during the week, a plot with a wall and sliding doors. Outdoor detector, sensors on every sliding door and door, a camera detector in the living room and an IP camera to look in from the flat in Castellón; the ARC checks every alert and calls the National Police with the images.
The apartment in Orpesa, Peñíscola or Alcossebre owned by a family from Madrid or Zaragoza
Opened up in July and at Easter; the rest of the year, a half-empty building. Sensor on the door and on the sliding door, a camera detector in the living room, Kit Plus to look in from home. No fibre: the panel communicates over 4G/5G.
The inherited flat in Sensal or Vila-real waiting to be sold
Empty for months. Sensors on the door and the reachable windows, a camera detector in the entrance hall and a deterrent sign on the door: if someone gets in, the ARC alerts the National Police while it is happening, not when the family turns up to show the flat.
Common mistakes when protecting a home in Castellón
Survey calls in the province always throw up the same slips. These are the ones we see most.
- Leaving the villa in the Marjaleria with nothing because 'it is only for weekends'. That is exactly why: a house shut five days a week on a lane with no passing traffic is the first thing anyone looking for a home to burgle or squat notices. The entry has to be detected in the first minute.
- Forgetting the sliding doors. In the villas and apartments on the coast the sliding door is the number one way in. A magnetic sensor on each one.
- Leaving the masía with nothing because 'there is no internet'. The panel communicates over 4G/5G and has a battery: in Els Ports, the Maestrat or the Alto Mijares it works without fibre and rides out power cuts.
- A standalone camera instead of an Alarm Receiving Centre. It shows you the burglary after the event from Madrid; nobody checks it or calls the police. What counts is an operator looking at the images at the time and alerting the police with them.
- Waiting until Easter to see how the apartment is. A closed-up home with no sign and no alarm is the perfect candidate for a squat that, by the time you discover it, is already a matter for the courts.
- Not mentioning the pet. A detector fitted without taking it into account goes off with the dog and ends up switched off; in the survey the position is chosen so the pet does not set it off.
What works
Covering the real ways into your home (sliding doors and plot included), having the alarm connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre that verifies before alerting, the indoor siren so the intruder leaves, and the app so you know straight away wherever you are. In a province where the coast empties in winter and the marjal during the week, that combination is what stops a burglary or a squat from being completed.

Segurma's ARC has it on record for your address and alerts them after checking with video and audio that the intrusion is real. You get the notification in the app at the same time.

Kit Tranquilidad Plus with an outdoor detector: sensors on every sliding door and door, a camera detector in the living room, a detector on the plot and an IP camera to look in on the villa from Castellón. Segurma's ARC checks every alert and calls the National Police if there is someone inside. The panel has a battery and 4G/5G, so it does not depend on the power or on fibre.
Yes. The survey is done by phone, the installation is arranged with whoever holds the keys and the app works from anywhere. Segurma's ARC checks every alert and calls the Guardia Civil with the images; you get the notification at the same time. With the Kit Tranquilidad Plus you can look in on the apartment whenever you like.
It works by detecting the entry at the moment it happens, which is when the National Police can act on an offence in progress. The sensors raise the alert at the first attempt to open, the camera detector takes images of whoever comes in and Segurma's ARC verifies them before alerting. A squat discovered weeks later is already a matter for the courts; the alarm is there so you never get to that point.
Yes. The alarm panel has a built-in 4G/5G line and its own battery, so it works without fibre and stays connected to Segurma's ARC if the power goes off. In the survey we check the mobile coverage in your area; it is the usual set-up in Els Ports, the Maestrat and the Alto Mijares.
Yes. The equipment is wireless, goes in without building work and comes out without leaving any marks worth mentioning, so there is no need to renovate anything or change the door. It is courteous to let the landlord know. You sign the contract with Segurma yourself as the user of the service.
Segurma is a national security company based in Loiu (Bizkaia), with its own Alarm Receiving Centre and technicians who install across the whole province of Castellón.
