Segurma alarms in Alicante
An alarm for your flat, your villa or your apartment on the coast.
Alicante at a glance
The province of Alicante has the biggest concentration of holiday homes and European owners on the Mediterranean: whole urbanisations in Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa, Rojales or Ciudad Quesada, villas in Jávea, Moraira and Altea, apartments in Benidorm and Santa Pola, and flats in Alicante and Elche that empty out in August. The Segurma alarm covers every one of those cases and its Alarm Receiving Centre alerts the National Police or the Guardia Civil depending on the municipality. Here we explain it comarca by comarca.

What happens in Alicante when your alarm goes off
In the province of Alicante, public safety is handled by the National Police in the cities with a police station (Alicante, Elche, Torrevieja, Orihuela, Benidorm, Alcoy, Elda-Petrer and Dénia) and by the Guardia Civil everywhere else: San Vicente del Raspeig, Santa Pola, Calp, Jávea, Altea, La Nucía, Villajoyosa, Pilar de la Horadada, Guardamar, Rojales, Crevillent, Villena and all the inland towns and villages. Segurma's Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) has on record, for every home, which of the two forces is responsible; the local police back them up in almost every municipality.
The process is always the same. A camera detector picks up movement in the living room while the system is armed, or a magnetic sensor notices the sliding door to the terrace opening. The control panel sends the ARC the signal, a few images of that moment and the audio. An operator reviews them. If it is the cleaner, who came in with her tag, nothing happens; if there is someone who should not be there, the alarm is confirmed as real and the ARC alerts the National Police or the Guardia Civil with those images. You get the notification on the app at that same moment, whether you are in Alicante, Madrid or Manchester, and you can watch the cameras live.
The alert is made by Segurma, an authorised security company registered with the National Private Security Register under number 3082. It is an alert verified with images: for the Guardia Civil post in Rojales or Calp, that is the difference between a suspicion and a fact; in an urbanisation in Orihuela Costa where sirens go off and nobody pays attention, it is the difference between noise and a response.
Homes without fibre, owners far away and power cuts
Many homes on the coast and inland have no fibre contract or spend months with nobody in them. The control panel has its own battery and communicates over the home line and over 4G/5G: if one route fails, the other keeps the link with the ARC. The app works from any country, so an owner who lives in the UK, Belgium or Norway sees exactly what they would see from Torrevieja.
Where Segurma installs in Alicante province

In a flat you protect the front door, any reachable terraces and windows and the hallway; in a villa, the perimeter.
Elche and the Baix Vinalopó: Elche, Crevillent and Santa Pola
Flats in Elche (Carrús, Altabix, El Pla, Sector V), country houses with a plot in the rural districts of the Camp d'Elx, beach apartments in Arenales del Sol, El Altet, La Marina and Santa Pola, and flats and village houses in Crevillent. How burglars get into homes in Alicante and what stops them
Home burglaries almost always happen with the house empty, in minutes, through the easiest way in. In Alicante, with so many bungalow urbanisations, so many villas and so many beach apartments, that way in is rarely the front door.
Flat in Alicante, Elche, Benidorm or Alcoy
The front door (old locks opened with a card or by bumping, or forced on a landing with no neighbours about), terraces and windows of ground-floor and first-floor flats reached from the street or from a commercial unit, and penthouses reached from the roof. A magnetic sensor on the door raises the alert at the first attempt; a camera detector in the hallway captures whoever comes in; the indoor siren makes an intruder in a block of flats leave.
Bungalow or villa in Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa, Ciudad Quesada or Gran Alacant
The intruder comes in over the roof terrace, through the back patio or through the living-room sliding door, which in the Vega Baja urbanisations opens straight onto the street or the communal area. Sliding doors and the grilles on bungalows are the number-one way in. Magnetic sensors on every sliding door, a camera detector in the living room, an outdoor detector on the patio and an IP camera to watch it from your phone; the ARC alerts the Guardia Civil or the National Police while the intruder is still outside.
Villa in Jávea, Moraira, Calp, Altea or Cabo de las Huertas
A large plot, a perimeter wall that can be climbed, a pool and a garden where the intruder spends a while before touching the house. The outdoor detector picks them up on the plot; the IP camera with audio in the Kit Tranquilidad Plus lets you watch from your phone; the ARC raises the alert while they are still outside. In urbanisations with a guard on the gate, this is the inner layer that is missing.
Country house in the Camp d'Elx, the Vinalopó or the Vega
Several ways in (main door, porch, garage, tool shed), a large plot and no neighbour in sight. Sensors on every access point, camera detectors on the route anyone has to take and an outdoor detector. The control panel, with its battery and 4G/5G, keeps the link with the ARC even if the power goes off.
When it happens
August and the Hogueras festival in Alicante, when the city empties or fills up with visitors; winter in the bungalows and villas on the coast, shut from October to May; bank-holiday weekends in country houses; and summer weekends in the flats of Elche or Alcoy. With the alarm armed and connected, those days stop being any different.
Anti-squatter alarm in Alicante: shut-up urbanisations and inherited flats
Alicante is, together with Málaga, the province where most people ask us about squatting, and for the same reason: there has never been so much housing shut up for so many months. Bungalows in the Vega Baja owned by people who live in northern Europe, villas in the Marina Alta out of season, apartments in Benidorm and Santa Pola in winter, country houses in the Vinalopó and inherited flats in Alicante and Elche. These are exactly the homes where a squat takes weeks to be discovered.
If the entry is detected while it is happening, with images of a person forcing the sliding door, the National Police or the Guardia Civil can act on an offence in progress. If you find out when you arrive at Easter, what is left is a court procedure. The whole point of an anti-squatter alarm is that first minute.
What the system does in an empty house
- The magnetic sensors on doors, windows and sliding doors raise the alert at the first attempt to open them, not once the intruder has already changed the lock.
- Whoever comes in is recorded by the camera detector; the images reach the ARC, which checks them and alerts the police with them.
- The warning sign and the siren stop the bungalow looking abandoned, which is the first thing someone looks for when choosing a home to squat.
- With the IP camera in the Kit Tranquilidad Plus you can look at the house from your phone, whether you are in Alicante, Madrid or Oslo.
The legal side, in brief
If the house is your dwelling, even a holiday home you actually use, entering it is breaking into a dwelling (allanamiento de morada); if the property is nobody's dwelling, it is usurpation (usurpación). Since April 2025 both offences go through the fast-track court procedure, and even so the practical difference does not go away: an entry detected and verified while it is happening can be stopped on the spot, whereas a completed squat is settled in court. For a squatting problem that already exists you need a lawyer; this page is no substitute for their advice.

Holiday homes on the Costa Blanca
Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa, Guardamar, Santa Pola, Arenales, Benidorm, Altea, Calp, Moraira, Jávea, Dénia: the Costa Blanca is, with the Costa del Sol, the biggest pool of holiday homes in Spain, with owners from Madrid, the Basque Country, Murcia and half of Europe. Homes that open up in summer and on bank-holiday weekends and stay shut the rest of the year, in urbanisations where in January hardly anyone lives.
What a house like that needs is not a siren, which nobody hears in an empty urbanisation in February, but someone to check what is going on and alert the police, and the ability to look at the house yourself from your phone. The Kit Tranquilidad covers the first; the Kit Tranquilidad Plus adds the IP camera with audio for the second. In bungalows and villas, the sensors on the sliding doors and the outdoor detector raise the alert before anyone touches the house.
The system is wireless and needs no building work, so there is no need to ask the community of owners for permission or touch the house. It communicates over 4G/5G as well as the home line, so you do not need a fibre contract at the holiday home. The app and the ARC work in Spanish; if the owner would rather deal with things in English, tell us during the survey.
Everything that changes when the house sits empty for months: alarm for holiday homes.

Shop or business in Alicante or on the coast
For a bar, a shop, a pharmacy, a restaurant or a warehouse on an industrial estate the set-up changes (IP camera with audio, panic button, arming schedules) and VAT is not included in the monthly fee. It is all explained on the business alarms page.
Typical situations in Alicante
These three cases come up again and again in survey calls from the province; we describe them in general terms so you can check whether yours fits.
The Orihuela Costa or Ciudad Quesada bungalow of a British or Belgian owner
Shut from October to May, with a roof terrace, a patio and sliding doors onto the street. Sensors on every sliding door and door, a camera detector in the living room, an outdoor detector and an IP camera to look at it from their own country; the ARC checks every alert and calls the Guardia Civil with the images.
The Benidorm or Santa Pola apartment of a family from Madrid
Opened in July and at Easter; the rest of the year, a half-empty building. Sensor on the door and on the terrace, a camera detector in the living room, Kit Plus to look at it from home. No fibre: the control panel communicates over 4G/5G.
The country house in the Camp d'Elx or Monóvar where squatting is the worry
Large plot, several ways in, no neighbour in sight. Sensors on every access point, an outdoor detector, a warning sign and an IP camera: any entry is detected in the first minute and the ARC alerts the Guardia Civil while it is happening.
Common mistakes when protecting a home in Alicante
Survey calls in the province always bring the same slips to light; these are the usual ones.
- Trusting the bungalow's grilles. Grilles and shutters slow a burglar down, they do not raise the alert; in the Vega Baja many entries are through the sliding door or the roof terrace. A magnetic sensor on every access point.
- Relying on the urbanisation's gatehouse. In Altea Hills, Cumbre del Sol, Sierra Cortina or Villamartín the guard on the gate checks the cars; they do not see whoever climbs over the back wall of your plot. The connected alarm is the inner layer.
- Leaving the country house with nothing because "there's no internet". The control panel communicates over 4G/5G and has a battery: in the Camp d'Elx, the Vinalopó or El Comtat it works without fibre and rides out power cuts.
- A standalone camera instead of an Alarm Receiving Centre. It shows you the burglary after the event from your own country; nobody checks it or calls the police. What counts is an operator looking at the images at the time and alerting the police with them.
- Waiting until Easter to see how the apartment is. A shut-up home with no sign and no alarm is the perfect candidate for a squat which, by the time you discover it, is already a matter for the courts.
- Not mentioning the dog. A badly placed detector ends up switched off because of the false alarms; in the survey it is positioned so the pet does not set it off.
What works
Covering the real ways into your home (sliding doors and roof terrace included), having the alarm connected to an ARC that verifies before alerting, an indoor siren so the intruder leaves and the app so you know straight away from any country. In the province with more shut-up homes than anywhere else on the Mediterranean, that combination is what stops a burglary or a squat from being completed.

Installation in Alicante: lead times and the visit
In Alicante, Elche, the Vega Baja and along the coast, Segurma's technician usually installs within 24 to 48 hours of the sign-up being completed; in Alcoy, Villena and the inland villages the lead time is confirmed in the survey according to the area's schedule. If the owner is not in Spain, the visit is arranged with whoever holds the keys.
We talk about your home

The technician comes
Segurma's technician installs the control panel, the detectors and the siren in one visit, with no building work and no cables along the walls; then tests the system with you and shows you how to arm, disarm and use the app.

Questions about the alarm in Alicante
The National Police in Alicante, Elche, Torrevieja, Orihuela, Benidorm, Alcoy, Elda-Petrer and Dénia, which have a police station, and the Guardia Civil in the other municipalities (San Vicente, Santa Pola, Calp, Jávea, Altea, Rojales, Pilar de la Horadada and so on). Segurma's ARC has it on record for your address and raises the alert after checking with video and audio that the intrusion is real. You get the notification on the app at the same time.
For the first 12 months, €24.90 a month with VAT, equipment and installation included. From month 13, €43.90 a month for the Kit Tranquilidad and €49.90 a month for the Kit Tranquilidad Plus. The promotion ends on 31 October. It is the same price all over Spain; anything added to the kit is quoted in the survey.
Yes. The survey is done by phone, the installation is arranged with whoever holds the keys and the app works from any country. Segurma's ARC checks every alert and calls the Guardia Civil or the National Police with the images; you get the notification at the same time. If you would rather deal with things in English, tell us when you request the survey.
It works by detecting the entry at the moment it happens, which is when the National Police can act on an offence in progress. Sensors on every sliding door and door, a camera detector in the living room, an outdoor detector on the patio and a warning sign; Segurma's ARC verifies the images before raising the alert. A squat discovered weeks later is already a matter for the courts; the alarm is there so you never get to that point.
It is one of the homes where it makes the most sense. Out of season nobody is going to notice a break-in; with the alarm connected, any opening or movement reaches Segurma's ARC, which checks it and alerts the National Police if there is someone inside. With the Kit Tranquilidad Plus you can look at the apartment from your phone. You do not need fibre: the control panel communicates over 4G/5G.
Over the back wall and through the sliding doors of the living room or kitchen, which open onto the garden. The survey places an outdoor detector on the plot, sensors on every sliding door and on the garage door if it connects with the house, and an IP camera to see the garden from your phone. Segurma's ARC alerts the Guardia Civil, which is the force responsible in Jávea, with the images.
Yes. The whole province of Alicante is within Segurma's service area. In country houses and remote villages the lead time may vary according to the area's schedule; it is confirmed in the survey along with the proposed kit. The control panel communicates over 4G/5G where the landline is poor.
Segurma is a national security company based in Loiu (Bizkaia), with its own Alarm Receiving Centre and technicians who install across the whole province of Alicante. Segurma Alarmas, which runs this website, sells its systems: we advise you, do the survey and handle the sign-up; the service and the contract are Segurma's.
Nearby provinces
If your home is in a neighbouring province, it has its own page with the police protocol and the areas covered there. The provinces with an English page are listed under Segurma alarms by province; the rest are in Spanish.
